This is an intricately detailed entry set made by Nashua in the 1880s. The knobs show a four-part cross in the center surrounded by an eight-part garland. The plates are festooned with swirls of vegetation from which a fox head peaks out (third photo). Both knobs and plates are constructed of heavy cast brass with a great patina. Knobs measure 2 1/2 and 2 3/16 inches in diameter, the larger traditionally placed outside. Plates are 2 7/8 by 8 1/2 inches for the exterior and 2 3/4 by 7 5/8 for the interior. Condition of everything is excellent . Price for the complete set (2 knobs, 2 plates, spindle): $225.00, plus $15 shipping and handling. | ||
